RIBA CPD Core Curriculum

INTRODUCTION

Dominic Meyrick is Principal of Hoare Lea Lighting, a lighting design consultancy. He presents a series of five inhouse seminars with the overall title - `Light as an Architectural Tool`.

This has been assessed and approved by the RIBA and Hoare Lea Lighting is a Member of the RIBA CPD Providers Network. Each of the 5 topics is a one-hour talk covering:

  • The Building Blocks of Light
  • Lighting for the Electronic Age
  • Lighting for Retail Therapy
  • After Dark - Lighting the Nightscape
  • Light and the Feel-Well Factor

Please see the downloadable pdf`s which give fuller details on each subject.
All seminars are an educational and informative CPD - and not product-related as Hoare Lea Lighting is not a manufacturer.

Should there be a lighting issue which is particularly relevant to current projects, Dominic will specifically address this within the most appropriate topic.

SEMINAR 3 - Lighting for Retail Therapy

Dominic will discuss how lighting can transform interiors and attract and engage people. Depending on how a space is lit, this engagement can be subtle or dynamic, passive or interactive, conscious or subconcious. It`s about understanding:

  • Horses for Courses - define the TASK
  • Fun or Run? The TIME factor
  • Now See Here - or There, or Everywhere?
  • Space Control. Come HERE, go THERE!
  • Human RESPONSE to the Lit Environment

All these factors will play their part in creating a `designer` solution.
